Even if a designer has the skills with a great portfolio to show, they can still do more harm than good. Here are the types and signs that they are not the right ones for you.
1.) The Yes Designer
Always says yes to your requests even if it’s already detrimental to your brand or doesn’t look good. Another reason for always saying yes is that they have no solid design fundamentals.
2.) The Mercenary
They care more about getting the job completed fast so they can get paid already and don’t care if it will help the brand or not. Remember, branding and marketing designs go beyond aesthetics.
3.) The Scammer
They use other designers’ works in their portfolios and claim them as their own. There’s also a big chance that what they do for you is either copied or generic.
4.) The Impostor
They’ll say anything to land a project even if they have no experience or skills.
5.) The Hermit
Doesn’t spend the time to grow and improve their craft. A designer that rarely invests in learning new styles and techniques.
6.) The Unprofessional
Constantly misses deadlines and has no acceptable reason for it. They can’t deliver on their promises and provide the materials included in the agreed project scope.
Knowing these types of toxic designers is the best way to avoid them.
