Coming up with your brand name can be challenging, especially if you don’t know where to start. Here are some tips to help you make this easy and more effective.
Strategy First
Clarify how you would position your brand against the competition. Create a clear definition of your brand, your persona, values, what you stand for, and your unique selling point.
Alignment
The way your brand name sounds should reflect and be in line with your strategy and brand persona. For example, if you want to create an impression that you are a high-quality and premium brand, have your brand name sound like it too.
Distinct
List down all your competitors’ brand names. Be sure your brand will not sound close to any of them. Have it stand out from the rest.
Keep it Easy
It’s better to have your brand name easy to pronounce and spell so your audience will not have a hard time remembering or searching for it online.
Trial and Error
List down all your ideas, no matter how silly they sound. Sometimes, those ideas can lead you to brilliant ones. Test all seven brand name types and see which fits best with the strategy.
Availability
Before you celebrate having come up with a brilliant brand name, make sure that the domain name and social media handles are still available. Adjust and tweak if it’s not.
